The Grand Hotel Moon Valley is an elegant four-star hotel in the lovely Vico Equense, a few steps from the town center of Sorrento having a lot of life. It is simply one of the best places to be based for visitors who want to enjoy the beauty, which surrounds them on the peninsula of Sorrento. There is no problem in reaching Sorrento whether you use public means or come with your vehicle because it’s very close to the train station and nearby buses stop. You can unwind without any worries since our staff will ensure that nothing but comfort accompanied by amazing views of near places including Naples, Capri, Pompeii and Herculaneum ruins are provided during your visit. Savor peace and have fun at this beautiful landscape known as Moon Vally.

Beautiful views and food. You will need to travel if you like things more lively

Stayed in August and had a lovely stay. First of all location, the hotel is up in some hills along the coast between Pompeii and Sorrento. It was only an hour to the hotel from the airport but this flew by as I was staring at all the wonderful views!
Stayed in August and had a lovely stay. First of all location, the hotel is up in some hills along the coast between Pompeii and Sorrento. It was only an hour to the hotel from the airport but this flew by as I was staring at all the wonderful views! it’s situated in a quiet town Seiano, there’s not too much to see and do in Seiano itself but there is a marina with some nice restaurants and boat trips. Ask at the hotel for directions though if you walk as it’s not clear which way to go but they do offer a shuttle bus service. The views from the hotel and pool are second to none! Either looking over the sea towards Vesuvius (well worth the extra money to upgrade to one of these rooms!) or looking at the beautiful rolling hills. There is a main busy road outside the hotel but even sat on our balcony on an evening the noise didn’t really bother us. There’s a train a short walk away which the hotel can sell you to tickets for which can take you to Napoli, Pompeii and Sorrento.
The rooms were a bit dated but they were wonderfully clean. Probably not the best if you plan on spending whos evenings tucked in your room but as a base of operations they’re perfect.
The hotel itself is very clean I didn’t see any muck or bugs and staff were constantly seen cleaning.
The food was delicious. There’s a set menu every night that you pick from and a buffet of vegetables and although there’s not a huge amount of choice everything is delicious. They did cook other things such as pizza and chips on request also.
The bar was reasonably priced as any holiday hotel not the cheapest but not silly expensive either. The staff were wonderful especially the hotel manager who met you every evening for food and every breakfast. The desk staff were friendly and helpful with any questions we had.

Had a 2 week stay at this hotel recently, here are our thoughts on the place.
First the not so great.
There is loud music late if they have an event on, if you are in a pool view room this will most likely disturb your sleep.

Had a 2 week stay at this hotel recently, here are our thoughts on the place.
First the not so great.
There is loud music late if they have an event on, if you are in a pool view room this will most likely disturb your sleep.
Staff can be slow to clean up tables outside/poolside and ashtrays etc.
Staff smoke on back stairs from the pool and there is a large collection of tab ends collecting on the roof - see pic provided.
There is an ant problem in some of the bathrooms, which I did raise with reception probably a bit too late.
Annoyingly there is no lighting on the balconies if your room has one.
Drinks are far too expensive - Disaronno and coke, which comes with too much ice when they don't ask if you even want it - this costs you the pricey sum of 9 euros and is called "a special cocktail"??, its 6 for the booze and 3 for mixer, this is NOT acceptable for what can only be considered a splash/mixer.
Pool guy is helpful but does give special treatment to Italian locals reserving beds for them with hotel towels and then removing them once they arrive to claim said beds. I did report this to the receptionist and was assured they would speak to the pool guy, this didn't appear to happen. As another reviewer has said, the locals takeover pool at the weekends and are quite rude and are quite intimidating kind of pushing people out of their spots.
The dining room doesn't have much ambiance and could do with some background low level music, this would be nice by the pool too as I noticed they have some speakers at the pool bar.
It appears that dining used to be downstairs but the layout of use has been changed and some areas feel neglected from use.
Hotel is mainly clean but could be cleaner even light fittings are full with flies, make use of the 3 or 4 pool guys/handymen that sit around chatting all day and get them doing some maintenance.
It's definitely NOT upto UK 4 star standards which is why Jet2 have given it 3.
Now for the more positive side, although not much to do in the local area, only one shop, the young guy in there is friendly, (it's a couple of minutes walk away and the road does seem to be a bit crazy but we navigated it without much issue)helpful and speaks good English, but it is quite expensive.
A coffee/shop and a few restaurants, harbour is walkable via some steps but takes approx 30mins, but this hotel is clearly all about the views - see my photos. Main attractions are Sorrento and Naples which can be reached easily by train - Cable car in Castellammare is worth a visit, again get the train.
Staff are mainly very polite and helpful, especially the guys on reception, Marianne from the restaurant and the Maitre d and Chanluka just for his smiley face😂, if there is nothing to your taste on the menu you can ask for something else and they will do their best to provide it if they can. We had no issues with the food, always something to eat and plenty of choice at breakfast, if unsure just ask someone. The pasta is always lovely and always cooked to perfecto👌!! Coffee Gelato is the best and it's made in-house.
The sunbeds are the comfy variety to go with the nice big pool - first pool towels included if you would like fresh ones they are 5 euros pp. The beds are comfy and made up daily along with fresh towels daily. Bathrooms are equipped with a decent hairdryer and hair and body wash(which is topped up regularly), small soaps and shower caps are provided.
There is a mini fridge in the room along with free WiFi all around the Hotel which worked fine for us, also a digital safe is included, which was fab.
We where half board and by the 2nd week realised it didn't seem to be an issue to bring our own soft drink to the dining room.
Hotel provides a free shuttle bus that runs daily to varying places and are very accommodating where possible if it's fits in with their daily schedule.
Don't be put off by any bad reviews, but do your own research, as like any hotel, it's not going to suit everyone.

Our stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The room was quite small and had issues like a leaking shower that floods past the door into the room. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, and 4G service was practically non-existent. If you want a sea view, be sure to book online
Our stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The room was quite small and had issues like a leaking shower that floods past the door into the room. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, and 4G service was practically non-existent. If you want a sea view, be sure to book online in advance as it’s better than looking out onto the traffic and entrance of the hotel.Otherwise, it costs €40 per day at the hotel to change. The mini fridge and safe in the room were nice perks, though.
The food left much to be desired. The menu was repetitive, with pasta featured in nearly every dish, and the buffet lacked variety as it was the same every single day. Breakfast was particularly disappointing, with a poor selection and very unpleasant juice.
On the plus side, the swimming pool was lovely, and there was no struggle to find a sunbed. The hotel offers a free shuttle service from 9 AM to 4 PM to nearby spots like the marina Vico Equense (town) and Sorrento, which was helpful given the less walkable road outside.however book in advance with the hotel for Sorrento as there are not many spots and if not the free shuttle can drop u off the train station to go to Sorrento for €2.40.
Nearby, there’s a supermarket with all the essentials, but the restaurant "Ma Che Bontà" that everyone seemed to keep mentioning was a big letdown. It was overpriced, and the service was beyond poor, and the food only made it worse.
Overall, while the hotel had a few positives, the negatives far outweighed them. The staff were rude and arrogant, giving the impression that foreign tourists were a burden. This issue wasn't confined to the hotel; it extended to various places we visited, which made the experience even more disheartening. Given that visiting Italy had always been a dream of mine and my family’s. The entire experience felt incredibly unwelcoming and disappointing.

It is very out of the way with not a lot of things to do around, they have one small shop and a lovely pizzeria just down from the hotel, so I suggest using the shuttle service, or the shuttle down to the train station. (Trains are very cheap and very easy to use, sorrento is the 4th stop, last train from sorrento is 10pm)
Rooms are dated, however the hotel is extremely clean and the cleaners do a FANTASTIC JOB. (Suggest taking an extension lead as only two points in bedrooms)
Pool area is lovely, modern and clean, with a mini children’s pool.
Restaurant
Breakfast is lovely with a lot of options.
Lunch menu is expensive for what it is.
Dinner, you have a menu for each day, some meals we had during the week were disgusting however other nights lovely. If you have children, they do not have a children’s menu and most children would not like the normal menu.
Reception- not very welcoming however the staff are ok and helpful on occasions.
Would stay here again as a couple not a family.
